LIQUID ONCOTIC CYTOLOGY

Collection Instr. …………: Material collected only by the attending physician and delivered to the laboratory.

Technical Information: The liquid-based cytology exam is a diagnostic method that consists of the collection and analysis of cells in the intravaginal region, allowing the identification of cellular lesions that can lead to uterine cervical cancer. This procedure modernizes and improves the performance of the traditional Pap smear, since with this method there is a significant reduction in false-negative cases. The reading of the exam is done more quickly and, with a single sample, it is still possible to perform tests for other diseases, such as HPV, chlamydia and gonorrhea.
