EAS – ABNORMAL ELEMENTS OF SEDIMENT (URINE) (3 SAMPLES)
Collection Instr. …………: Use sterile flask.
– Take the vial from the laboratory or buy it at the pharmacy. Keep the urine refrigerated until arrival in the laboratory.
Use 3 bottles.
Assepsy with neutral soap and water before starting. Dry with a clean towel. Starting the collection:
1 vial = 1 stream of urine – This is the initial 3 seconds of urination. (fill about 1/4 of the bottle)
2 bottle = middle stream of urine – start this bottle immediately after the first bottle. (fill approximately half of the bottle).
Continue urinating into the toilet bowl. When you feel you are finished, start the third bottle.
3 bottle = final flush of urine – This final flush needs to be collected when you feel the urine is finished. (fill about 1/4 of the bottle)
– Preferably in the morning, upon waking up, clean the area with neutral soap.
– The Day before avoid excessive fluid intake so as not to dilute the urine.
